Care Packages for Troops

Dear Friends,

As part of the Queen of All Saints Boxes of Mercy initiative, we invite you to participate in the Care Packages for Troops project. With your help, Queen of All Saints Parish and St. Mary’s Parish will send care packages to selected military active duty units who so deserve to be remembered and appreciated for their patriotic and honorable service.

As a first step, we are reaching out to you to help us identify deployed military units who will receive the care packages. Many of us have family members, neighbors, or friends who are currently deployed or have family members who are. We would like to send the care packages to troops who are from the Michigan City area. This is our opportunity to make our “thank you” to them a little more personal and from the heart of their own community.

So, please reach out to family and friends in the Michigan City area to solicit suggestions. Please provide the name of the suggested military unit and the military delivery address (APO or FPO) by August 30, 2020 to Laura Wozniak at l_semala@hotmail.com or call 219-363-9000. Military units may be in any branch of active military service (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Navy, and Marines). Depending on the number of suggestions we receive for military units and the number of care package items we collect next month, we may or may not be able to send care packages to all the units suggested.

Once we’ve identified the military units, we will reach back out to you in late August/early September to request donations for items to include in the care packages. We know our active duty service men and women will appreciate your sending a little bit of home and comfort to them during their period of deployment.

Your friends in Christ,

Peace and Social Justice Commission
