Upcoming opportunities for prayer and growth at St. Mary's the Immaculate Conception
Our Lady of Fatima, Queen of the Holy Rosary
Beginning on the first Saturday of August we will initiate the devotion of the Five First Saturdays in honor of Our Lady of Fatima at. Mary the Immaculate Conception Church at 9:00a.m.
On December 10, 1925, Our Lady appeared to Sr. Lucia with the following message:
“See, my daughter, my heart encircled by thorns with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. Do you, at least, strive to console me. Tell them that I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation all those who, in order to make reparation to me, on the First Saturday of five successive months, go to Confession, receive Holy Communion, say five decades of the Rosary, and keep me company for a quarter of an hour by meditation on the...mysteries of the Rosary.”
Mary, the Mother of Our Savior and the Mother of each of us appeared to Sr. Lucia in order to spread devotion to her Immaculate Heart and to make reparation for the sins and blasphemies committed against her. The promises she made to those who participate in five consecutive First Saturdays should be enough to inspire us. But a further inspiration may be the promise she made in which she said that her Heart would triumph, and the world would be given a period of peace. The Five First Saturdays are a path for world peace. I am convinced that until we have enough people offering reparation to the Heart of Mary, we will not have peace but when the number is accomplished, we will see the Triumph of her Heart. How glorious will it be when we see Mary proclaimed as Queen throughout the world and when we are given true peace through her holy intercession.
I invite all of you to consider making the Five First Saturdays a constant in your spiritual lives. Our First Saturday schedule will be as follows:
8:00 am - opportunity for confession
9:00 am - celebration of the Holy Mass
9:30 am - recitation of the Holy Rosary
10:00 am - a fifteen-minute meditation offered by the priest in order to accompany Our Lady in her sorrows.
I look forward to seeing you at St Mary as we accompany Our Lady and offer reparations to her Immaculate Heart so wounded and broken by the sins of the world.
